    The deputy speaker house of representatives Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu has presented his one year scorecard to the his constituents, the great people of Bende federal Constituency, in a town hall meeting held in his Bende country home.

    High point of the presentation, was the unveiling of his N500 million Business and Family Support Grant aimed at empowering 8,400 beneficiaries in Bende Federal Constituency. The initiative, announced during a town hall meeting, underscores his commitment to fighting poverty, boosting businesses, and fostering infrastructural development.

    In a landmark move to combat poverty and promote economic growth, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has launched a N500 million Business and Family Support Grant for constituents in Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State. This transformative initiative aims to empower 8,400 families and businesses across 400 political wards within the constituency.

    The announcement was made during a well-attended town hall meeting at Kalu’s country home in Bende on Sunday. The Deputy Speaker revealed that the grant is part of his broader strategy to tackle poverty, hunger, and unemployment, while also spurring business growth in the region.

    In his remarks, Kalu expressed concern over the poor condition of roads in the constituency. He highlighted several ongoing road projects and infrastructure initiatives that were included in the 2024 national budget, noting that some have been completed while others are in advanced stages of reconstruction.

    “Your trust in me to represent you at the National Assembly has fueled my commitment to delivering impactful projects for Bende and Abia State at large. I assure you, more development is coming,” Kalu stated.

    The Deputy Speaker extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing the South East in his administration’s development agenda. According to Kalu, the Tinubu-led government has shown exceptional dedication to addressing infrastructural decay and tackling unemployment and poverty nationwide.

    He appealed to his constituents and the entire South East region to rally behind the administration, citing the government’s efforts as a clear indication of its commitment to equitable development.

    Kalu also announced the donation of musical instruments to numerous churches within Bende Federal Constituency as part of his efforts to support religious institutions. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his dedication to completing all ongoing projects he attracted to the region.

    Highlighting his legislative accomplishments, the Deputy Speaker disclosed that he has sponsored 105 bills in the 10th National Assembly, showcasing his commitment to addressing both national and regional challenges.

    Kalu urged community leaders to identify and forward their most pressing needs, assuring them of his readiness to attract more projects and grants to meet those needs.2024
