The Immediate past Minister of State Mines and Steel Development Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah, on Sunday unveiled an ultramodern hospital in Onuaku Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
The hospital known as Wilson and Paulina Ogah memorial hospital was unveiled by the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti in honor of the late parents of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and Hon Amobi Ogah, Late Mazi Wilson and Mrs Paulina Ogah, during the celebration of Life and Times of their mother Ezinne Paulina Ogbonne Ogah held on Sunday 29th December 2024.
Speaking shortly after a church service by the First African Gospel Mission, Dr. Ogah said his family decided to build the health facility to appreciate God for keeping their mother in sound health condition before calling her home at the age of 80.
He said she taught children great virtues of love, fairness, humility, generosity, forgiveness, the fear of God and service to God and mankind. Ogah also added that he learnt patience, hard work and dignity of labour from his late mother.
He said “Many of us had big farms where yam, rice and other crops while growing up. We set traps to fetch extra income, we sold agidi and akamu to survive under the watch of our mother.
“We also worked in the palm plantations. In the good days of the Nigerian railway corporation, we sold water and groundnut and performed other menial jobs to make ends meet.
“We are not mourning because we know where our mother is right now and how our mother left this earth is something we appreciate because she went home while listening to worship songs. She wasn’t sick or had any other issues. That’s why we have decided to celebrate our mother in a special way”.
“We are grateful that eminent personalities in this nation had to leave everything they are doing to come and identify with us, we love you all for standing by us.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the Minister for works, Engr. Dave Umahi for his capacity in convincing the president to award the dualization of the Okigwe/Afikpo road.
“Many of us may not know what this road was impassable until the former Senate President Dr Anyim Pius Anyim came to our rescue, that road became the first road done by Julius Berger in South East of Nigeria as at then.
“The road has lasted and now our own brother the Minister knowing that this is an important road has gotten approval for the road to be dualized and its going to be a trunk A road and that gives us a lot of visibility and that’s why I’m calling on our brothers to come home and start investing here, because very soon things will begin to happen around here.
The Abia State Governor Alex Otti, while commissioning Masters FM , Radio station built by Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, consoled him and his family for the lost of their mother.

“People may not know but I’m wearing the same shoes and I know where it pinches. I thank you for the sacrifice you have made to bring everybody together and I’m sure that your mother is happy because of the kind of celebration you have given her today.
“We want you to come and build one of your factories in Ebonyi because we have given you road, so we want you to give us a Production Factory “
